The work documents sexuality and the exploits that are often attached to it. This particular piece is a self portrait; my identity as a young woman of color is often eroticized to the point I can only view myself as an object, that object being an anime body pillow.
The work was made at home, in isolation, from a stock image. A blurred version of the images was projected onto a large canvas painted with black acrylic paint and then photographed and cropped.
Football is a beautiful game that can be played no matter your age, race, sex or social class. It’s an international language that is easy to understand. It’s one of the easiest way to socialise without words. I feel that these moments playing football in a small astroturf in Kottbusser Tor were very similar to the times I spent in some of the nightclubs in Berlin. The feeling of not having to say a word, in a dark room and just focus on the music; just like a football.
In this illustration the coronavirus is a sexy woman, sitting on-top of a human. “Stay Home” so the spread of the virus can slow down; the faster that happens, the sooner everything will go back to normal.

This bull is the result of watching 3 hours straight of white noise on a cathode TV. The moving particles spoke to me illustrating this clear vision of a purple bull amidst the exciting movement within the screen.
Ava Whitley Faustian Tangles
The work takes inspiration from intricate details present in line work from Art Nouveau.
“The Light Room” is based on a photograph found in my collection of old books. It reminds me of a recurrent dream I had as a child, of flying through a long rainbow patterned tunnel and meeting someone at the end of it. I look to convey a sense of journeying in my work.
"I peed on this'' is a collage of papers, receipts, magazines etc. sewn together with twine, painted on top of, with an assortment of types of paint and painting techniques. The work focuses heavily on the idea of process painting and composition.
He cute boy
This painting is a bi-product of the painting "I peed on this" where the focus was on the process, a process developed to make use of all of the material available and not just using selected pieces. "I peed on this" is a collage of papers, receipts, magazines etc. sewn together with twine. Setting confines seems counter-intuitive to creativity but it really makes for a mode of working that helps free the flow of work, even if it is pure shit.
Balls on an iPad Pro
Painted on an iPad with an Apple Pen, this "painting" focuses mainly on composition and nothing else, the point of the drawing was simply to distract myself during a dragging presentation. The nature of the situation being simply to pass time aided the overall outcome because of the little amount of pressure there was to perform.
